Tourism is the main income for Didim as the city hosts three important historical cities of the ancient world: Didyma, Priene and Miletos.
The villages and towns around Didim are Altinkum, Yesilkent, Mavisehir, Akbuk, Akkoy, Yeniakkoy, Milet, Priene.
Didim has a fairly flat geography and a widely scattered pattern of settlements. It is so well situated with its mild climate and nice environment that after 1980s, people from large cities around Turkey came to settle here in Didim. The town has a number of discothèques, small bars and clubs; however, it is still a quiet, family resort with a great coastline.
Didim is 80 km away from Bodrum Airport.
On the sea line, there are a series of hotels with beautiful beach. Many other hotels are also situated in Akbuk, another smaller town just 14 km away from Didim. Regular minibuses are running between Didim and Akbuk.
The beach in Didim is called Altinkum (Golden Sand) and it well deserves the title. The hotels are right behind the beach. The sea is shallow for some meters which makes it an ideal beach for families with children.
